Even when the lights went down, Winston Churchill continued to inspire those around him. It was then, after a full day as the political leader of an empire, a great negotiator at dinner tables as well as conferences, that he wrote his famous speeches and books – often while enjoying a cigar. His versatile character is mirrored in the «The Late Hour Series». The intense and complex multi-origin blend creates a taste experience as deep and inspiring as Churchill’s evening routine.

THE SECRET OF CASK AGEING

THE CAST

The Condega visus tobacco leaves are firmly pressed inside finest single malt Scotch whisky casks. As the temperature in the closed casks rises, the tobacco enters a fermentation process. The rise in temperature is checked regularly to prevent the tobacco from overheating.

THE AGEING

The tobacco ages for a total of six months in the cask, during which it gets flipped every two weeks applying a labour-intensive process. Meanwhile, the tobacco absorbs the whisky aromas of the cask’s wood. This is a natural process during which no whisky is applied to the tobacco leaves directly.

THE RESULT

The cask ageing leads to more sweetness and deeper flavours. After six months, the tobacco is ready to be integrated into the blend that makes up the Winston Churchill «The Late Hour Series» cigars.

To reflect the darkness during which Sir Winston was at his most creative, Davidoff has selected a shiny and oily Ecuador wrapper in a beautiful dark chocolate color. The aromas of this exquisite Winston Churchill «The Late Hour Series» robusto cigar tantalise the palate with varying layers of black pepper, dark coffee, sweetness, old leather, wood and spiciness.
