Few cigars have as deep a backstory as La Aurora 1495 Nicaragua. While the history books of our youth told of how Columbus discovered the Americas, his actual landfall was made in Hispaniola when his flagship, Santa Maria, ran aground on the island and sank. His arrival and Spain’s ensuing colonization gave rise to what is now the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Founded in 1495, Santiago de los Caballeros is the second largest city in the Dominican Republic and home to La Aurora Cigars, and as such, they honored it with a series called La Aurora 1495. The Nicaragua edition is comprised of a five-part ensemble of tobacco: a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper sits atop an Ecuador-grown binder that nestles long-fillers featuring Dominican Corojo, Dominican Ligero, and hand-selected Nicaragua tobaccos to reveal nuances of spice, earth, chocolate, and a lingering finish.
After the critically acclaimed La Historia Ernesto had to do it again and Encore was the only way. The second part to a series of cigars Encore is the master’s way of having another great performance for all to enjoy.
